Lozetta Elizabeth Cooper, mother to Lorenza, Arthina, and Arthur Jr., and affectionately known as "Mama Lo" to more than anyone can count woke up in heaven on Saturday, October 9, 2021, after being surrounded here on earth by her friends and family. Lozetta was 60 years old.
Lozetta was born to Lorenza Crosby and Vyna Wells Cooper on Sunday, January 8, 1961. She earned her bachelor's degree in Business from Cleveland State University, where she also served on the Cheer Team. Naturally, a leader, Lozetta's character and professionalism paved the way for her to become the first black VP of Finance for Regions Bank in Alabama. While she did well in finance, perhaps her greatest experiences happened when she began serving children full-time. Lozetta started at Camellia Baptist Church in Prattville as a Tot's Teacher and soon became Director. From there, she became Director of Destiny Church's Character Kids Daycare. She was also ordained as Destiny Church's Children's Pastor in 2017 and ordained again as Family Pastor in 2021.
In addition to the loss of her parents at an early age, Lozetta was preceded in death by her sister, Theodoria Ann "Theedy" Cooper; her husband, Arthur James Lee Sr.; surrogate father, J.D. Milliner; aunts, Lucinda McLemore (Shug), Annie Woodyard, Rachel Thorn, Frannie Robinson, and Lola Cooper; and her uncles, Sam Handy, Robert Wells, Edward Wells, and Lucious Wells.
She leaves to cherish her memories her surrogate mother, Edna Milliner; surrogate sister, ReGina May, Prattville, Alabama; son, Lorenza, Columbia, South Carolina; daughter, Arthina, The Woodlands, Texas; son, Arthur Jr., Marbury, Alabama; son, Michael, Montgomery, Alabama; daughter, Tracey, Montgomery, Alabama; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in Christ, and friends.
